After a stellar debut at the arcade, the 4th proper installment of the notorious fighting series lands on consoles.
User Rating: 9 | Mortal Kombat 4 N64
First off let me say that with the exception of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, MK 4 is the most under rated of the series. This addition is of course the first to feature 3D rendered characters and inviroments. Its also the first time weapons are available to all characters. The controls get a tad sticky at times however the sweet taste of victory makes up for that. Unfortunately, winning in a brutal death match doesnt make up for the lacking character selection. But I suppose being able to see fatalities for the first time in 100% 3D form is a sight for sore eyed MK fans who had been waiting for the transition for years. Overall, MK4 is an outstanding port of the arcade version and has enough new tricks up its sleeves to impress new fans of the series and keep the modest crowd of die hard MK fans at bay until MK 5.
