A huge let-down to the fans. Lots of flashy effects, but no substance.

For months, this game had been hyped up by fans and gamers alike. The fact that this would be the last of the generation and harbor all characters from the Mortal Kombat series was something to celebrate about. Then, finally when the game came out and it popped it into your console to play, it was a let down.

Perhaps it was fun for a bit, but that well quickly dries up and leaves you with a feeling of emptiness and abadonment. This game feels like a recycled version of Deception, just with more characters and an unfinished notion of being. The graphics weren't much of an improvement, nor was the fighting system.

In regards to the "revamped" fighting system, it just didn't work out. The new fatality system is laughable and almost a joke. So it was out with the great character fatalities that pretty much seperated the series from other fighting games and in with a sub-par one that becomes repetitive and dull. Beside the major character additions, everything else just felt plain and bland. Motor Kombat, a horrible attempt at throwing in a distraction to the already played down series and then the toned-down Kyrpt was rather disappointing as well. Boon, what happened?
