Mortal Kombat Armageddon - Delivers a huge cast of fighters, interesting gameplay. Some Good, Some Bad
Massive Fighting over the years has driving the universe on the edge of destruction as the fighting becomes more intense and more savage. What can be done to avoid armageddon? Well its up to you to find out in the newest installment of Midways Fighting Francise.
Gameplay:
The Gameplay hasnt changed to much since deception, except for the fact you have 2 styles of combat (1 martial, one Weapon) per fighter as opposed to the 3 (2 martial, 1 weapon) in deception, which is most likely due to the number of fighters available *about 60*.The fighting itself though is relativily unchanged, except for the introduction of Air Kombat, in which the fighters battle it out in the air, a neat gimmick but not used to much. What is a big plus for the game are the interactive arenas and the arena fatalities, its little trouble to knock your enemy in front of a subway train or into a pool of acid, very nicely done, though it is sad the old fatality system has been tossed out the window in favor of making your own fatalities, this cuts down on the individuality of the fighter and makes the fatalities less satisfying. Every Fighter that has had some sort of role in the MK Universe has come back for the big final, this allthough doesnt seem to make sense in terms that a number of fighters has died during various Mortal Kombat tournaments, so the story has been a bit confused. The Story itself is played mostly in Konquest mode which is leaned towards gameplay from MK:Shaolin Monks. The Konquest mode features a new playable fighter, and tells most of the story. Another point which didnt appeal was the lack of biographys, you dont know why the fighter is there, doing this and what his ultimate aim for this game is. A new feature is the create your own fighter system, in which you can create a fighter with a unique style and outfit to match your desires. Another new feature is the introduction of Motor Kombat in which you race in mini cars against each other trying to win, each fighter in the car has a special move he/she can perform and it is a nice little diversion, Puzzle Kombat and Chess from the previous installment are sadly lacking.
Still, all in all the Gameplay is very satisfying
Graphics:
The Graphics are very well done lending a darker atmosphere during the game that can be very um graphic, if you have a fondness for blood and gore, this is the game for you.
Sound:
Sound is decent and helps you get into the feeling of things, music is allright and suits most situations.
Value:
This game has of course a ton of replay value due to the fact of the high number of fighters, alot of unlockables in the Krypt, featuring costumes, new fighters or new arenas and yet more unlockables for the Motor Kombat mini game. All in all this game is well worth the money and a must for Mortal Kombat fans.
