Mortal Kombat Deception is a great game for people who like fighting games. The game has a unique fighting/combo system compared to other games, but is the same exact thing as Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. So if your use the Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance then you won't find much trouble getting use to this one. Mortal Kombat isn't just about fighting anymore. This game has Chess Kombat where you play chess Mortal Kombat style, Puzzle Kombat where you play a block dropping game (like tetris), and Konquest mode. Konquest mode changes Mortal Kombat into a free roaming RPG style game. There are many good things about this game. The three other mini games had added alot of replay value to it via the addition of online play. I found this game to be very addictive and fun. This game has alot of replay value. The online play helps out the game alot. And the other games with it add to the addictiveness to it. Sometimes you find yourself playing this again and again since its so fun. The thing I didn't like most about this game was the Konquest mode. It was probably the worst part of this game. You are forced to play it in order to complete and unlock everything. You have to go through the world of Mortal Kombat with a character named Shujinko and playing through it will explain the story of Mortal Kombat. Konquest mode isn't built that well and it feels like a very disorganized RPG game. Mortal Kombat Deception adds more concepts to the way of fighting in this game. There are breakers which allows you to break combos so you won't be screwed when someone does a strong one on you. The levels changed too. They aren't just a circular ring with force field walls. Some levels are multi leveled arenas that may contain stage weapons, which may consist of a death trap. The new multi leveled arena adds more strategy to the fight. Weapons can deal alot of damage to your opponent. Death traps are also another thing new in this game, which can kill anyone if they are knocked in it, so even the losing combatant can win. This game also has 2 fatalities and a Hara-Kiri for each character. Hara-Kiri is a suicide move that you can do when someone is trying to perform a fatality on you. So now you can finish yourself off before you opponent does. Mortal Kombat Deception is great game and if you are a fan of fighting games or the series, you should certainly get this game. This is the best fighting game of 2004.
