Let's cut down to the point shall we...
MK shaolin monks has some good boss battles such as the Baraka battle and the scorpian battle because their are different stages of it for instance when you fight scorpian ( my favourite character from MK series) you start off in a normal head on fight than escalade to a chase and finally he keeps trying to burn you and when he fires his spear you have to reef him back onto land and start pummeling him again. After you perform your fatalitie and make your way to the stairs he rises from the dead to engage in another brawl until you finaly beat him again and perform yet another fatalitie where he really really really puts up a fight yet comes short and dies lol.
While we're on the subject I might add that the fatalities are very gruesome and awesome only would have been made even better with some great graphics.
The fighting engine is not the best but it only starts to get stale towards the end.You have your basic and specail attacks that don't have as many upgrades as I expected. When you look at the games moves and style you can kinda notice that Midway looked at games like prince of persia 2 for influence which although wasnot a bad game god of way may have been a better inspiration.
The weapons handle nicely and are quite a help in sticky situations. Though the in game graphics such as characters and hazards aren't amazing if you take time to look at some backgrounds like the Wu Shi academy you might notice they are quite beutiful with their waterfalls and lush rainforests.
This game portreys the MK series well although I haven't played tham all I do apreciate the extra content and quotes such as the living forest trees and the deadpool. There are lots of MK classics such as Goro and reptile and I reccomend this game to all MK fans but if you are just looking for a solid action adventure there are better out there although this can be a good rental if you want to try it.
