Wait!! An MK adventure game, I've seen this before ...; but this one is actually good.

User Rating: 8.3 | Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks PS2
MK: Shaolin Monks is an action beat-em-up for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. I had the privilege of playing it on my PS2. SM is the third game in the series of non-traditional MK games, and this one is the only one that actually turned out good.
The story of this game is set after the happenings of the first MK tournament, where we get to see that Shang Tsung and the rest of his minions have been defeated in battle by Liu Kang and the other warriors of Earth. Shang Tsung escapes being killed by Liu Kang, thanks to Goro causing a scene. This leads into the inevitable battle between bad and good in Mortal Kombat II, where the evil Shao Khan is introduced.
The overall feel and gameplay of this game was going to be the essential make or break of this title; and I am proud to say that Midway finally hit it on the head. Instead of making a slow paced bore-fest like Mythologies, or something not worth mentioning like Special Forces; Shaolin Monks is an actual enjoyable experience from the get-go. The controls are tight and respond on time. The graphics are great, the action is fast, plus the arenas and enemies are fitting to the theme and world of Mortal Kombat.
This game is also a tribute to everything MK, just like any other recent MK game that has come out this generation. With secrets in every area, who knows what Midway hid in the game! Some of your old favorites return also: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, and Reptile; just to name a few (with many more in store!).
Overall, I am totally recommending this game to anyone who was curious about this title. If you were frightened away from MK adventures because of Special Forces, then don't worry this game is the perfect solution to your worries. As an MK fan, I would like to say that this is the best MK game this generation, bar none.
