Final Fantasy: Mortal Kombat Style
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks breaks with the traditional Mortal Kombat style of beating each other senseless with really cool special moves, and actually takes the player out of the ring and allows you to explore the Mortal Kombat Universe.
The story line centers around the Shaolin Monks Liu Kang and Kung Lao journying into Outworld, to face the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung and stop his plans for conquring the Earthrealm without winning the tournaments that form the main game's storyline.
Dispite it's so so storyline, the game offers tons of action, including use of special moves and fatalities from the previous Mortal Combat Games. However the game's most fatal flaw is the lack of multipul campaigns for the various MK Characters, and some fan favorites, such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Katana are unplayable.
Dispite it's flaws, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, does justice to the name Mortal Kombat, by allowing the player to explore the worlds outside of the tournament arenas.
