One of the best mortal kombat games ever since it's 2D counterparts.
the fighting mechanics were change from the 3 fighting styles that the 3 mk games released on ps2,xbox,gc.It's much more simplistic and actually i find this fighting mechanics more fun than the boring ones from the past mk games(Not including the old classic mk games)although i would have liked if the developers could make the game with more combos and air combos aswell but sadly it's not like that.Basicly when i got this game i was expecting something like mk armageddon but it wasn't because the fighting engine in the game is really fun and anyone can get into it even if you never played a fighting game in your life.I was a bit dissapointed that they didn't have weapons like they did in the old mk games (mk4) because i like to throw the weapons at my opponent,alot of had negative expections about this game because it was going to be a T rated game and not M rated well frankly i don't care about having soo much gore in a game because honestly i liked the old mk games not because it was soo violent but because the fighting was fun i really like executing a 8 hit combo (or even 15 hits or more if you are good) so when it was announced that the game was going to be a T rated i didn't mind it.Onto the Graphics they look great but i think that they could have done a much better job specially after amazing gorgeous looking games like soul calibur 4 and virtua fighter,the game still looks great.The sound in the game is one of the best it really sounds awesome when you play it in sorround sound if you have a home theater and just hear the punching and other crushing blows sound sosatisfying even on a reguar tv sound good.Replay value is a bit short because their is no unlockables besides 2 boss characters but their is no alternate costumes for the characters no hidden stages and no other hidden characters only 2 boss characters,so you only have 1p and 2p versus mode,xbox live, and the story mode, there is another mode called kombo challenge i think that's what is called but i really don't play that mode all it shows you is how to do combos with every character kinda like konquest mode from mortal kombat deadly alliance.So the replay value is ok because playing online can be fun and the story is worth cheking out but the arcade gets old.Overall i give this game a solid 8.0
