Violent, Bloody, Fast Paced! One of the best fighting ever!
But anyway, I played this and I thought it was awesome! On to the review I guess.
Gameplay: Simply awesome! It's very simple to get the hang of. One of those easy to learn, hard to master type games. There are two main modes, 1 player Destiny mode and regular 2 player.
In Destiny mode you have you have to battle all the other fighters in 1 on 1 matches as well as mirror matches, 2 on 1 and 2 on 2. 2 player is just you against another human player.
The controls are very responsive and easy to learn. It's definately better to play if you have the six button pad as it's easier to pull off combos and Special moves
Graphics:
The graphics in MK were great back then but I still find them pretty good now. The fighters are done with real people performing the moves and they have been animated in to the game. The characters are quite pixelated but it's not really that noticeable. Some move animations use only a few frames which makes them quite choppy but again, this isn't much of a problem. The arenas are very detailed and look great. Each one is based on a fighter in the game. So you have Goros Lair and others based on Reptile, Shao Kan, Kano, etc.
Sound:
Mortal Kombat has some great music. The opening them is great and so are the Arena themes.
The sound effects are also well done with various sounds for punches, kicks and slams. There are also shouts and screams which sound good.
Replayability:
Once you've completed the Destiny mode a few times the game does get a bit repetitive. There are a few records and scores to beat though, like how far you can get through destiny mode without dying and some other things.
2 player is always fun, especially when you kick your friend's *** in about 20 seconds without losing any health.
Overall this game is awesome! One of the best fighters ever. If you haven't played it (which I highly doubt), then get it and play it!!
