Never judge a book by it's cover, or in this case, a game. M&B achieves what others fail at accomplishing.
User Rating: 8.5 | Mount & Blade PC
Mount and Blade sets you in the world of Calradia, a war torn land of bandits, knights, misfits and mayhem. Choose your back story and your path. Its simple. However, the simplicity is what makes it such a fantastic game, because at the same time it is complex in design. The graphics, not necessarily, but the combat, warfare, diplomacy with factions, its all there. The difficulty of the game is personally up to the player. You can set it to be very hard or very easy. I went into this game thinking that I was getting some sort of hokey game with crappy graphics and poor game play. Given the time and chance, I was proved wrong. This game not only gives you choice of becoming what you want but who you want to favor, faction wise. You can recruit from villages, go to taverns and recruit mercenaries or even recruit special companions which carry back stories. Tournaments that take part across the land can be participated in for a lot of cash and will earn you renown. You can even become king of a faction, if you choose. This task can only be accomplished through doing enough quests, going to war, and helping the factions' villages which will earn that faction's favor. This is truly a rich game with plenty to offer with mods in progress and others that are already released. Not only does it immerse you in a truly addictive world, it makes you feel like a knight, bandit, king, mercenary, etc.
