The game would be much better if EA put forth a litle more effort into it. But they didn't.

User Rating: 7.2 | MVP 06 NCAA Baseball PS2
The first NCAA baseball game on the market. And it plays very well. The graphics are nice and the stadiums are very detailed. The sounds and the announcers make it a very realistic atmosphere. But the realism ends there.

One of the major disappointments is that difficulty levels are barely noticeable. Varsity and Junior Varsity play the exact same. It is very difficult to hit the ball. And that is the major drawback about this game. Don't expect high scoring, home run hiting contests here, expect 1-0 and 2-1 scores for your games.
The most frustrating thing is the CPU's fielding is flawless. Get ready to hear "Great leaping catch." And "What a dive by the 2nd baseman!" A lot when the computer is on the field.

Right now, I'm in the midle of a game. The score was 0-0 all they way until the 19th inning. I'll repeat that, the 19th inning. Now, the score is 1-1 in the top of the 20th inning. My last game was 0-0 and lasted until the 17th inning.
This is where this game fails horribly. Getting a timely base hit or a home run is next to impossible. I have 7 base hits in this game, and thats during 20 innings of baseball.

However that is the only negative drawback. If you like pitching duels, no matter who you are playing, then this game is for you. Most pitchers are like Roger Clemens in this game. However, the one drawback of the game is a serious one that takes away lots of fun and adds lots of frustration.

EA could have fixed this easily. But they quality of their games have fallen ever since they monopolized the market. Don't expect anything good from EA sports for a long time now. This is just the beginning.
