Too bad this game couldn't be released the same year as a MVP MLB game...

User Rating: 8.2 | MVP 06 NCAA Baseball PS2
Let me start off by saying that the MVP Baseball games were my preferred baseball games. This game, if was still MLB, would not change my mind. It is actually nice having a college setting, where you concentrate on recruiting players only instead of worrying about budgets. But only problem is, players obviously will only be playing for you during their school years, which is two to four years. Does require some planning, which is nice.

Graphics on this are more or less the same as MVP '05, which are nice. Not all schools (which there are over 100 by the way) have their stadiums in this game, but there are some generic ones which aren't bad. You also have a create a stadium mode, which does not give a ton of options. The same goes for create a school.

A new addition this year is the new hitting system. Instead just pushing a button to hit, you use the right analog stick. You pull back and push forward at the right time to swing. Takes a good amount of time to get used to. You also throw to the different bases by using the right analog now also. Both of these new additions can be changed to their old '05 settings.

Multiplayer this time around is really the same as past years. You get online play, which records stats. While you can play with the old hitting and throwing style, it wont count towards your stats. So you will need to get used to the new style to have stats recorded.

Overall, for the $30 tag, it's a nice baseball title. It would have been nice to have a MVP MLB game this year, we could have had export characters to the majors like in the football games. But who knows, we might be able to if these annoying exclusive deals will quit happening.
