Once you get the hang of the analog swinging and throwing, this game is a blast!

User Rating: 9.1 | MVP 06 NCAA Baseball XBOX
NCAA Baseball is a difficult even frustrating at first. It may take up to 10-15 games to truly get the handle on the analog control of the swing and throwing in the field. Once you do, however, the game proves to be incredibly challenging and enjoyable. There is no baseball game to date that gives you the amount of control and sense of reality that EA sports provides in MVP '06. The hit stick takes some time to learn the proper timing and use of the hitters eye to get the most out of the experience. Fielding becomes easy in no time, and I would advise using sliders to make the pitching a bit more challenging. A player has to remember that they are using college players and not the pro's that we have become accustomed to, so the pitching is not as deep and there are more errors with the college players. I still haven't got the hang of the recruiting and wish that it was a bit deeper as it is with NCAA Football. You really can only realistically go after a few players a year. I do enjoy the email challenges. The graphics are solid, but the parks are mostly generic. It is a nice option to be able to customize your own field, with the walls and dimensions of all MLB parks available as options. The sound is not much different than past MLB games and doesn't give you an individualized feel of being at a college baseball game. Having gone to a few NCAA baseball games, there really isn't the same atmosphere as you would find at a hoops or pigskin game anyway. The heart and soul of this game is the new gameplay interface. If you find it tough at first, stick with it and you will reap the benefits.
