User Rating: 9 | MVP Baseball 2004 XBOX
Generally, I wait until both MVP and ESPN baseball are realeased before making my decision. And for the last 3 years, Sega's rendition of baseball has been far superior to the competition. This time, I fell into all of the hype and ran out and bought MVP the day it was shipped. I was not disappointed. For the first time, a baseball game has been released that can be called a thinking man's video game. The detail, and the incorporation of timing on just about every aspect of this game really provides an authentic game of baseball. Graphics are far below that of ESPN (especially in HD), but as a true fan of sport, graphics aren't everything; it's the gameplay that counts. The fielding is seemless. The hitting just makes sense, and the pitching interface is fantastic. Still, no online play, which hurts a little bit. Despite that feature, this game shines. Nice job EA, let's see what Sega can do to match this effort. My pockets are rooting against them, simply because if ESPN is as good, with online play, it may be worth it to own both.
