I have to admit, ive been counting down the days for MVP Baseball 2005 to come out. When it was announced last weekend that it would be coming out a week earlier, i got excited like a little kid, it was great. Last year's game was good, but it was just missing things. Like EA said though, it usually takes 3 versions of a game to get it perfect. Well they pretty much got everything down in this game. As soon as i got home yesterday i popped in the game, played it for about 8 hours straight, thats how addicting it was. Rosters not being perfect is the last thing i ever worry about, and i dont let it get me down. Besides hardcore baseball fans, football fans, whatever, the first thing we all do when we get a sports game is check the rosters and ratings and sign free-agents, trades, etc. So of course thats what i did first. Modified Bonds, Millar, etc. After i was done with my compulsive roster disorder, i played a homerun challenge with a lefty, and put to rest any concerns i had with lefty power. I also noticed the game feels a little smoother than last year, it seems like the swing comes together better, and just flows. Felt good. So after i was done with that, i started a season. Didnt even play an exhibition game, how do u like that!! I started it with the Mets. After i played 8 games this is what i found out. Pitching: Pretty much the same as last season, its a little harder to hit your spots this year, they made the green area a little smaller which is cool. I love the new hitters eye batting view, its wider and you can see the whole field better. Also the new quick pickoff is good too, pitching felt great. Fielding: Major overhaul, everything just feels so much smoother, from the throws, double plays, flips to the pitcher, dives, etc. Everything has improved on defense. Major thumbs up to EA. Of course the outfield is still a little slow, and if you hit a gapper forget it, you got a triple still.. but nothing that can be tweaked a little in the sliders. Batting: I turned the hitters eye off, i dont see any use in it for me. I think its giving the batter more of an advantage so i dont use it. Batting is pretty much the same as last year, not real major changes. There are more foul balls, different graphics of foul balls. Stuff like that. But besides being much more smoother, there isnt much that changed in the hitting. Gameplay: Again, talk about the smoothness. Everything flows, excellent gameplay, best gameplay from a baseball game ive ever seen. Graphics: Could be better, the faces look good, a little scary sometimes, but overall good graphics, not excellent. Sound: Sounds like a baseball game... nothing different than any other game. Value: 30 bucks? How can you go wrong with that, 20 dollars less and a 10x better baseball game than last year. Go buy it, period.
