While it lasts, N+ is a charming, elegant yet simple maze based game, but that is only while it lasts...
Onto the bold focus of the review, N+ itself. As you are, you play a slim, dark ninja figure confined in a maze with a series of traps... (where have we seen that before?) Of course, along with the coins and spike themed pitfalls, we have the common 'exit' which is an attainable, not so distant goal. However, not only do we have to defy gravity using the curved slope as a running surface ultimately shunning Newton's laws, but to reach the heavenly exit we must take a crack at a series of buttons which can trigger positive or negative influences on how you will get to the door.
As enjoyable as my Ub3r H4x0rz writing skills make this game sound, it can, it should, it will and it shall get boring once you play x number of levels. Why on earth, ocean, heaven, hell or mullberry lane would someone want to get a game they can generally get on the psp? What? Why are you looking at me? Alright, dumb MangoLlamas aside, I'll describe in vivid, descriptive above the influence (^) detail why this game is getting a '7.5'
First off, a tedious game cannot magically un-repeat itself... Only it's sequel can, but then again, this is a sequel to a computer game...FAIL. Next is the 'negative happy chainsaw edge,' the latest fashion adapted by sonic. "So what is this negative happy chainsaw edge?" Why Billy, that is just the suggestive statement I named for "contradicting itself." What's the point of collecting coins or points, or even getting to the door? To see for yourself a new, moving spark sphere? THERE IS NO POINT! Last is the over-technical feel this game gives. If you can run upside-down for three seconds, why can't you fall form a frail height? Curses! Why is our protagonist so fragile!
Serious stupid aside, the general controls are forgiving in the sense of how easy it is to get in the game. Though it is dull and limited as an entirety, there are certain key points that it manages to cover better than any other game, such as the controls... but that's not hard to accomplish with shallow gameplay. Another thing this game lacks is story line, If there were some attacks involved, just maybe this game could save itself, but there really is no refresh button on this game.
Finally, this game is, in one word, BORING. Staring at this is ' ' is more fun than playing this game, not to mention it's twenty dollars cheaper. If you're sick of playing a game that you have to replay a small area to understand what you're doing wrong, this game is NOT for you.
