A Very Good Compilation
User Rating: 9.4 | Namco Museum XBOX
Namco Museum had 5 discs for the PlayStation, one after the other, but now that the PS2 came out, why not just throw the best ones into one big one. Good idea, you have Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man (which really was Midway), Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian, Pole Position, and Pole Position II. Plus the three bonus 1995/96 updates of Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug. In 1995 and 1996, Namco released two arcade compilations, and they had "Arrangement" versions of their classics on the machine along with the originals (those were fun arcade games), and put those three into this game. For locked games, Pac-Mania and Pac-Attack (which was really for consoles, not the arcade).
A lot of them turn out well, complete with original Japanese cabinet art. However, Galaxian is not in its original form, the scoreboard is on the side rather than on top. Ms. Pac-Man is also slower and more miniature looking than the Midway version.
But it is still a fun game with okay menu designs but catchy music for them. It loads well on the Xbox, on PS2, it takes a little longer. It's a fun compilation.
