First off I have to say, the people who don't know this anime, might not enjoy playing this game....after being said that, on with the Review: Gameplay: At first when you start playing, you will notice this game plays at an incredible speed; you will be overwhelmed and get discouraged real quick. This is why they have created a Training mode & Mission mode. In these two modes you get to familiarize your character and the different type of moves you can perform. The most important moves I found were actually the combos that you can perform on your opponents. Many times I have been close to dying, because of trying to initiate the special moves for my character. Then I took notice how I was losing blood so quickly, it was because I was being hit by little aerial combos by the opponent. So I started punching and kicking instead, it worked quite well too. Plus it was better for me to connect the moves from a simple combo to a special move combo. This can deal significant damage comparing with just the special combo. Graphics: Most of the times, I like my game graphics to be nice and sleek. Like MGS for instance, it had the fluidity of lifelike character and the models looks just amazingly remarkable. Although this game was made into shell shaded, the game still runs at a smooth frame rate and wonderful to look at. Most of the games I find that has the high-end type of graphics tend to have lag in the character movement due to monstrous amounts of polygons put into different characters. It can be rather grotesque if a game can’t perform at its best…but this game can just do just that….unique graphics, with beautiful frame rate. Sound: Like many games out there, originality and coolness inside a character takes creative minds, and many hours of programming to create something that sounds great. Like most game developers, this is one of the hardest to do, to find the perfect cast to match with the characters voices. Well, no need to worry about that, because each character’s voice in this game is being dubbed by the original Japanese actor and actress who dubbed the anime. Not only the dubbing was great, but you can also hear the voices when you perform special combos on one another. The special affects of the weapon effects are great as well, sounds nearly as perfect as the anime itself. Value: This is the downside of the game, which is not all that bad. You can still do the mission mode after you finish unlocking each character in the game. But what I was really disappointed about was that there are only 6 more characters you can unlock. This gives you a grand total of 12 characters to play with. In the anime there’s well over 40-50 characters, but you can only select a limited amount from that selection. Review’s Tilt: I have to give props to this game b/c many anime-games out there are mostly games you can find in the “forbidden game section”. Though there are still flaws to improve, but this game is still highly recommended to those who just want to have fun.
If you are a fan of the anime, you have to buy this game. First off, in order to play it, you will need a PS2 capable of playing japanese games. I am a huge fan of the series, so I purchased one just for this game. ... Read Full Review
This is a really really fun game. I like the graphics which are very nice, the sound isn’t bad as well as the music, but what really makes this game shine is its combat. It differs from games such as street fighter, DOA,... Read Full Review
