Good, but repetitive
User Rating: 7.5 | Naruto: Narutimate Hero PS2
The first many fights are alright but after a while, they do just get repetitive, long and boring. The scenario mode is where you select a character's story (and where most of the characters are unlocked) which go through 4-7 fights with cutscenes between each fight, but they have very little resemblence to the actual events in the anime. In Shikamaru's scenario, he actually beats Orochimaru but I cannot think of any Naruto fan that would actually think that would be possible. The mission mode is nothing but fights against set opponents with 1-4 conditions. If you fail to of one of these conditions, you fail the mission. The missions start off easy with conditions like beat your opponent is a set time, but get near impossible half-way through with conditions like beat your opponent WITHOUT GETTING HIT ONCE!!! The missions give money which you can use to buy extra things like figures, music and voice overs. Some of the missions aren't impossible but you need a lot of spare time to do them like have 100 fights which each character. The characters include:
Naruto
Sasuke
Sakura
Kakashi
Neji
Lee
Shikamaru
Hinata
Gaara
Zabuza
Haku
Orochimaru
Cursed Sealed Sasuke
Nine Tailed Naruto
Each chracter has the same number of moves, 2 special moves and 3 big cinematic special moves that seem more like cutscenes which you must tap a button combination of the screen to continue the move (if you are the attacker) or reduce damage (if you are the person actually being attacked). Cursed Sealed Sasuke and Nine Tailed Naruto one have one big cinematic special move but many moves originate from the anime.
If you are looking for a Naruto game on PS2, I strongly suggest that you go with the sequel of this game as it has more characters, better game modes and this game is a bit outdated now. 7.5/10 or 8.5/10 if you are a big Naruto fan.
