Not a sim racer's dream come true, but it'll do.
If you're a casual arcade racer you won't see those glitches as a problem. But anyway, the Fight to the Top mode is pretty fun. You start as a driver in the Featherlites and work your way up to Nextel Cup, which can take from 3 to 5 years. Once you get enough cash you can become a team owner. This is where the Fight to the Top mode is flawed. As an owner you can only own one car, and you can't watch the driver that you hired race. And when the races are just skipped the same drivers win every time.
Graphically this game is good. The sense of speed is spectacular, and the first time I played it really knocked me off guard. Everything looks great, except at Daytona the sun will shine through the track, and there are pretty much no day to night transitions here. With engine sound...it's better than NT2003. It's not spectacular, but it's better. The problem is that my spotter is useless because I can't hear a single word he says as I race.
2005 also has the usual lightning challenges and training, and a season mode. It's a shame that with this game you can only go one season with a driver, unlike 2003.
Despite its glitches, I'd recommend this game to any Nascar fan.
