Alone in its genre comes a mediocre game with 100s of hours of grind. Better get comfy 'cause your going nowhere fast...

This is a game that seems alone in a genre that I would like to see much more in. Online naval warfare is not an area of gaming that has ever been deeply probed and this game shows the potential of this genre. This game could have been much but with an uninspired development team this is more of an rough diamond rather than a sparkling gem. this game could have been much better.

Gameplay here can be highly addictive but it is extremely dull and very unkind towards new players. If you are reading this review and are thinking of playing this game be fore warned that you will initially start at a huge disadvantage. Though there is a newbie friendly starting area you will quickly grow out of it and when you truly sail the high seas int he destroyer you would have earned at this point expect to die. Expect to die a lot. The game is uncannily newbie unfriendly for a single salvo from a heavier cruiser or battleship will sink you. This is a serious issue and the powerlessness you have in the beginning of the game can be extremely frustrating.

Fear not however for there is a hope. After you level sufficiently to get a decent ship and if you choose your battles wisely the problems and frustrations settle but are instead replaced with something else. Once you get past the excitement of getting a new ship be prepared for a grind that can last weeks, then months as you progress before you can get anything new. Though you know you are working for a higher goal, that next ship, at times it may feel like your running in place and the seemingly endless grind will get to even some of the most hardened of MMO-gaming vets.

Graphically don't expect much here. This is a 2d game and though the sprites are highly detailed in the end they are exactly what they are. By no means an ugly game there just isn't much to show in the graphics department. There is nothing overly irritating so that is a plus considering how long you have to play to get any progress here but in the end there really is nothing to love either and that just adds to the feeling of mediocrity.

The sound too is nothing amazing. While initially the effects may seem snappy they eventually wear at you and certain effects will get heard so much over the 100+ hours required to get anywhere that they can in the end get quite annoying. You will hear the same effects over and over and the soundtrack again and again. It all in the end gets pretty repetitive.

The game is free until you reach level 30 so you can give it a try. If you like it you can choose do subscribe. It will take a while for you to reach level 30 and its more than enough time for you to decide whether or not this is the right game for you.
