This year its all about 2k6

User Rating: 8.1 | NBA 2K6 XBOX
Of the 2k basketball series this version is the only one I have played since the final Dreamcast version. That being said the improvement are certainly apparent, but the overall structure remained the same. The fast paced, smooth frame rates, and overall game-play is consistent in its evolution up to its current version. The worse part of the game has got to be the navigation interface and menu design as well as the team select screen. These screens don't properly reflect the heart of the game. The menus seem to be rather "a matter of fact"; plain. Even at the "team select" screen the jerseys seem a bit ugly, but once you get trough al that its basketball nirvana. Free point shooting has become more natural to match player stroke.EA's NBA Live's tried and true crosshair method was good for its time but in oneupmenship Visual Concepts was able to really innovate the methodology of gameplay control. The side game of street basketball is back and even here you can find depth as you evolve to the NBA.
All in all NBA 2K6 is WELL rounded basketball game, but as a "game" it does lack the "tilt" factor EA's NBA Live has. The "tilt" factor that EA's NBA Live has is the ability to glorify the dunk and absolutly imbarass your opponant.
