Aside from an updated association mode and some new graphics, this is essentially the same game of a year ago. Unfortunately the layup glitch is back and though the players don't just back up out of bounds like they used too, they now occasionally run to the corner and catch a pass out of bounds resulting in an unprovoked turnover. Also, the commentary of a year ago is back as a carbon copy in the 2009 version so be prepared to just hear the same old things again and again. One improvement in this game is the new hotspot mode, which lets you view how well your player can shoot from each area of the floor by a meter that goes up and down beside their name. Also, in the new association mode you have a player of the week, player of the month and rookie of the month awards added in as well as Reward Points, which can be used to permanently boost certain attributes during Training Camp in the off-season. These can be gained by accomplishing certain goals during the year. One drawback which they could have fixed easily is that the rosters are slightly dated and some of the past years draft class is not included. Overall, it is a solid continuation to the 2k basketball series but nothing more. If you are a die hard basketball fan I would recommend it, but for everyone else just wait until something better comes along.
