The game basically plays like NBA Street: Half court, first to 11 by 2s and 3s wins the game. If you clear the ball on missed shots, blocks and steals, you can just take right back up.Most matches are played in a best of 3 format. In addition to your standard dribble penetration, and turbo moves, the right stick will allow you to juke, and using your Turbo combined with the right analog or the Square button will make you perform moves to throw your opponent off balance and give you an opening.Defense is very similar to NBA Jam games you've played before. Square will go for a hard swipe at a steal, and O will try and tap it away.Aside from the players, everything else looks pretty good. They also actually have collision detection in the game, something the NBA Live squad might want to implement in their next game. Midway puts forth a solid effort with a little style, but like the 2003 Denver Nuggets, they just end up being also-rans. NBA Ballers is definitely the lesser of the two major street basketball titles. A little more polish, a lot less loading, and we might have a showdown next year. This is a definite rental game, but I don't know that you'd need two street ball games in your collection, and NBA Street is definitely the one you want to own when it's all said and done.
