This game is truly the best in series. They delivered a fresh new game that is fun both online and off. The main gamemode "Street Challenge" is basically the same as Vol. 2. What they did differently was added to the length of it by having the "NBA Street League" which is where your player is asked to play on an NBA team for 16 games against other NBA teams. They added new gamemodes to this year's version including the Dunk contest and Practice modes. The dunk contest is a simple and fun addition to the game. Basically you jump into the air and use the "trick stick" (right thumbstick) while holding down different turbos to pull off moves. The practice mode is much like practice modes in other basketball games. You pick your player and shoot or dunk or dribble around at you own pace. Other new additions are the trick stick (as I mentioned earlier) and the gamebreakers are done differently. The trick stick is used for dribbling on offense and blocks on defense. It is also used during dunk contests for mid-air moves and in gamebreakers. Gamebreakers this year are quite different. Once you get one you activate it the same by hitting the "shoot" button and holding 2 turbos, but you control the players in the air this time. The points you get from it are determined by how many moves you can do in mid-air. The gameplay is very good, but in the XBOX version of the game sometimes you player slows down when going over the 3-point line even with turbo. Also I wish there was more control over your passes, like when you want to pass it to the open guy and instead it passes it to the guy with 2 people around him. The Graphics are different from Vol. 2's. This time they are more realistic versus cartoonish. When playing you can tell it was developed on the ps2, but overall pretty average. The sound is awful just like the other 2. This is due to the extremely loud and sometimes annoying announcer. Also the fact that you can't have custom soundtracks really hurts it. It has a high replay value due to the fun of it all. It's a great game to play splitscreen with some friends. Although this game had some low points to it I really liked it overall. This game is definitely a better game than the previous 2.
Basketball is known as one of the coolest sports in today’s pop culture and for very good reason too. You can do more tricks with a basketball than any other ball sport there is. With that technicality, it’s no surprise ... Read Full Review
