NBA Street V3 isn't revolutionary, but it's a solid arcade-style basketball game that has a lot to offer to Bball fans.

User Rating: 8.4 | NBA Street V3 PS2
Introduction: NBA Street V3 is a great arcade-style basketball game, if you don't expect huge changes from the previous version. It has a lot of different modes (and additional multiplayer mode, which is great), the graphics kick ass and the gameplay is very nice. Gameplay: The gameplay is great, though still needs some tweaks. It's really hard to get what you want, but after you practice it's kinda cool. Sometimes it just feels too random, but it's really no big deal. Overall, great gameplay with infinite number of tricks and dunks - fabulous! But in all of that, I somewhat find it very similar to the V2 gameplay. Maybe it's just me, I expected big changes, and all I got is a similar gameplay. But don't get me wrong, it's still better, and it's still great with a lot of new tricks and dunks to discover! Graphics: The best I have seen for a basketball game so far, and one of the best of all times for the PS2 console. Players actually look like themselves (unlike in V2), the game looks way more sharp than the previous versions, and the courts look good and professionally done and not cartooned like in V2. Also, the frame rate stays stable all game long, and it was hard for to believe. Overall, the graphics are amazing. Who said that PS2 can't deliver? Sound: Though the sound isn't awful, it's the worst part of the game. The songs are good, but there is only about 8 of them, so it's get very repetitive after a while, as already stated in other reviews. The commentary is simply awful, it's the same annoying weepy, loudmouthed broadcaster that says stupid things like: " 3 is the magic number, and that's how they up by". Simply terrible. Actually, the sound isn't very different from the older versions, though I find the sound effects to be much better. If V2 gets a 6 from me for the sound, V3 isn't much of an improvement in that aspect, so it gets only a 7 from me, just because of the nice sound effects. Value: There are a lot of things to do in V3. The additional dunk contest and the online play modes are simply fantastic. If it's not enough, there is also court builder which lets you build your own court. I couldn't ask for more from a basketball game, but still, it gets a 9 because there will never be a basketball game that will actually keep me playing for a long time. Final thoughts: If you are a basketball, you really should check this game out. If you are a street-style basketball, there is no need to tell you what to do. This game is fantastic, but I can tell you one thing: Don't get too excited about it, or you will be a bit disappointed like I was. Just keep in mind that the game is not a huge step forward from its older brothers, and you will be fine and off to go, and you will have a great time, because this game is amazing. If you haven't played this great series yet, you should buy this game and enjoy it til the last dunk, like I did.
