When you say that you like a football game more than Madden something wrong is happening.
Let's get right into it, Race for the Heisman starts off as your a high-school stud trying to get his name across infront of college scouts. The better you do, the better college you get offered to. And overall, if you don't go to a high-ranked school you won't get as much attention as you think you might deserve. Also, if your looking in the long run, the NFL Draft looks for players that went to a good college for academic and for the program. Somethings you can do in Heisman is read mail from friends, practice plays, check out a picture of your girlfriend, check out stats, and read the newspaper to see the events of your football team. Race for the Heisman is a very enjoyable mode easily becuase you don't have to worry about barely nothing. Sure, you have to play hard and play good but other than that you feel like your an actual player and you just play and it's a welcome feature.
All the other modes are back in like creating a school and trying to make it a dynasty in football, and all the rest of the mombo-jumbo we have come to expect.
Some new gameplay features are the truck stick (also featured in Madden 06) where you basically bulldoze the person trying to tackle you if you press it at the right time. Also there's impact players, where when they are 'in the zone' their game improves and big plays tend to occur.
So, those things are the new improvements so let's discuss the rest of the details. First lets get to the negatives, the soundtrack to me is annoying and repetive. There is one type of music, rock, rock, and rock. People may say, oh it's in the mold of college music, and that may very well be the stupidest thing I ever heard. The music is just annoying, throw in some hip-hop, throw in some variety for samuel's sake. Other then that, this game is very solid. I love that the juke moves are assigned to the right analog stick and I like that more than the L1 and R1 for Madden, for the analog stick, it just feels more responsive.
Overall, NCAA Football 06 is one of the best football games this year (even though that it is not saying much, there's just like 3 or 4 football games) and with the new features it's a must-buy. You will truly be happy with the package this year and will playing it...probaly more than Madden. It's just THAT good.
