for the casual college football fans, NCAA 2005 is largely the same package as 2004. or 2003. so skip this year's version, and keep playing your 2001 edition to your heart's content. but for hardcore NCAA fans, this game is an good pickup. not essential, but definitely worth $40 used. there are tons of minor bells and whistles -- on-field composure, disciplining players, crowd noise, new lighting/shadow graphic effects, new animations -- but none of them are so overwhelmingly necessary that it feels like you're playing a new evolution in the series. (nor does it feel any "better" of a game than 2004.) run-blocking feels more effective, but slider tweaks gave you similar results in 2004. the passing game feels more realistic. (previous editions felt a little lob-happy.) and hey, there are new rosters. :) overall, i'm an addict and i'd buy this game just for the roster updates. to anyone less than an addict, you're not missing out on much that you didn't already see in 2004.
