I'll start By saying this "I am a huge fan of the NFS series!" I have been playing NFS since NFS 3 Hot Pursuit on the PSX. the sequels after that I didnt really care for until NFS Hot Pursuit 2 came out for PS2. Being from canada, I was proud of Black Box is located in Vancouver Canada. I was so loyal to the series. I've bought all the PS2 games they've made. But NFS Carbon, I dont like it one bit. You see, back in Hot Pursuit 2, The game was so refined, beautiful to watch, and just an amazing technical achievment. Now the latest installment falls flat in all areas. Lets compare the two. HP2 had a smooth frame rate, Carbon has a horrible one. Even in 1st person view, the game is extremely choppy in most parts. You'll have the odd second or two when the game jumps to 60 FPS for about two seconds. HP2 had wipers that came on when you splashed though puddles. Carbon doesent even have puddles, let alone wipers. In HP2 you just picked a car you liked, picked you favorite colour, picked a track, and you're off. In carbon, you have to play throught this career mode (which is ok, I think all games should have a carrer mode) with horrible low budget live actors. Just watching these things are painful. then, you've got the police chases which are really long and hard to end once you've, started. The police cars arent even real crown vics anymore like the were in HP2. Car modifying should be removed from an NFS game. I dont find any fun in it. I do however like the challenge mode, with one exception. Drifting. In drift mode the physics all of a sudden are different. and I find this mode was put in last minute to make the game apear to fit in with the release of the DVD "tokyo Drift." This game has taken a respected series' licence, and ported it of cheaply to make a few bucks. I want my good NFS games black box. Where are they?
Now I'd like to start by congratulating some of the Need For Speed workers. Because the ideas behind Carbon are absolutely awesome! The main idea being that you and your crew need to take over Palmont city block by block... Read Full Review
I received this game as an early Christmas present before my trip to the USA meaning I had four days to 'test out' the game. Instead of that I ended up completing the career mode in less than those four days and with tim... Read Full Review
