Good features and fun, but many aspects come up short after all.

User Rating: 8 | Need for Speed Carbon GC
NFS: Carbon is an overall good game. EA has taken the customization to a new level in the GT/Street Racing area. Although some cars aren't the right choice for the game and some can only be used through challenge series, I believe you will a least find one car you are satisfied with. The story line however is less then perfect. Yes, EA did put in some more cut scenes, but yet not enough. A cheesy plot, obvious storyline make it less then interesting too. In the end it will still keep you in your seat and not want to get up and wonder what the he// was that. Cops in the game have a slightly better AI. The heat levels are still here as well as the same cop vehicles. There are still in order of heat...
1. Cruiser
2. Undercover
3. Interceptor
4. Tougher Undercover
5. Those stupid white corvettes
Nothing else is worth mentioning besides beside cop dialog being the same. Characters are average. Angie doesn’t quite fit her role. Kenji and Wolf are ok. Niki is above average, just because she has the most lines. Darius is cheesy because he acts like he's a kind and he knows he's not and just his style, I find quite queer Your crew, is what they should be, a side act. There not that important except for what they do in races. Carbon surprisingly has some good features. The main menu has a race, pursuit, and multiplayer record tracker in one place. Another is the shadow option for multiplayer where the shadow of your car in your previous race in there so you may have an easier time making a new record. After taking over an area of the city, other crews can still attack your territory. WOW, your task isn't over is it? Another rival crew feature has risen from the dead in Underground 2, Rival Crew Challenges. It’s like an outrun except to a designated point of your choice. Finally a great returning feature is the markers after beating the bosses of the area. There is still that pink slip, visuals, performance parts that actually cannot be obtained later. Apart form all these good features come the bad. The fact that you still can't use speed breaker in multiplayer has let me down again. Graphics also decrease in here as well. I have also played the 360 version and there are races called something along the lines of a big race. There are about 16 racers in one race! Where is this race on Game cube? NOT HERE. Tracks & Races> Some Most Wanted players will be disappointed not to find drags on Carbon, but that has been replaced with the new drift races. Some Underground 2 players might have difficulty getting the hang of this. Overall I think they have improved on this aspect. EA has decided to keep checkpoints, although they are not as many scattered on the map as there should be. Sprints, circuits, speed trap are all back too. They are as expected... pleasing. Some sprints have a new twist, being in the canyon setting which is very cool, except for EA taking away the giveaway rails. Drifts are also included in the canyon setting as well and drift along the giveaway rails is a great thrill. Canyon Races>
This new race, as well as the main feature of the game turned out good. The scoring system makes sense, corners are tighter, and camera movement shakes both players into falling off the canyon. This is also how you must finish off each boss. It just came together here. You have to try it for yourself to love the intensity it brings to the table. Last topic... Customization. There is so much added to this category. New vinyl’s such as two tones and shapes are available, as well as the amazing ability to move the vinyl’s all over your car. Then there is auto sculpt. Like Underground 2 you can choose separate bumpers and skirts but your can mold then on zones. You auto sculpt front bumpers, back bumpers, skits, hoods, spoilers; chop top, rims, exhaust pipes. If you’re too lazy too do that there are after market rims, body kits, spoilers, and hoods to choose from. Paint has also improved with a full color bar and then a drop down 100 shade box creating the ability to give you any color imaginable. In the end Carbon is worth buying. There’s room for improvement is EA goes the next step, and I'm sure you will seen satisfied after playing this game.
