Another Need for Speed game, let's see if it isn't crap like Most Wanted

User Rating: 8.2 | Need for Speed Carbon PS2
EA's long-running racing series Need for Speed gets another game, NFS: Carbon. Since the NFS series started in the PC's in 1995 (that later was ported to the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and 3DO), the games were hits (except NFS: V-Rally, EA's version of the Atari -Infogrames in that time- rally game). After NFS1 hitted the stores, a new NFS was in development. The result was NFS2, released in 1997 (the same year when NFS: V-Rally was released), and later, NFS2: Special Edition was released only for the PC's. The series also had pursuits. In 1998, the NFS series had touched the pursuit territory with NFS3: Hot Pursuit, followed up by the 1999 NFS4: High Stakes (the first NFS game that i have played). And if you think that the NFS games had always multiple car brands, you're wrong. The year 2000 saw the release of NFS: Porsche Unleashed (also known as Porsche 2000). The game had a GBA port in 2003, but, one year before, in 2002, we saw NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, and in 2003, NFS left the pursuit territory to go to the street racing and tuning territory with NFS: Underground, followed up by it's 2004 sequel, Underground 2. In 2005, EA wanted to go back to pursuit territory, and they made a mix-up between pursuit and tuning. The result was NFS: Most Wanted. And now, we have Carbon. The story is a sequel of Most Wanted. The game starts you with the BMW GTR3 from the previous game, the car that a guy called Razor (the bad-guy) robbed you. Well, maybe you also remember another character from that game, that dammit cop called Cross (I HATE YOU! YOU MADE BAD BEGINNINGS IN CARBON AND MOST WANTED!) that pursuits you and says a typical dialogue: "Do you remember me?". Well, that **** makes you crash and then you meet two characters not seen in NFS: Most Wanted, Nikki and Darius (not the Taito game). Nikki takes you with a car seller called Neville, your 1st partner in the game, that gives you three cars to choose one. You have this options: a Chevy Camaro SS (Muscle-type), a Mazda RX8 (Tuner-type) and a Alfa Romeo Brera (Exotic-type). Later you discover that Darius is a traitor, because he dealed with the **** of Cross. There are new things in the game, for example canyon-races, wingman mechanics and car types (muscles, tuners and exotics). According to the game, the muscles focus only on acceleration, the exotics focus on topspeed and the tuners on drifting. The gameplay is bad. Check out the good and the bad of this game.

THE GOOD: The new and revolutionary tuning element called Autosculpt, now the cutscenes have real backgrounds

THE BAD: Hard gameplay and no extensive tuning options like in NFS:U2
