Not all I hoped it would be

Need for Speed 510 was, when I first saw it, an awesome game. Then I played it. The thing that I like about the Need for Speed games is the ability to “free roam”, and I feel that it is an important feature, especially for newcomers who haven’t quite grasped the controls yet, or if you just want to polish up your skills a bit. Although I do understand that they’ve had to cut-back on some things because obviously you can’t get the same amount of stuff onto a UMD than you can with a ordinary sized disk, but after you’ve beaten the first few bosses, and after you’ve kitted up your car nicely, the game just becomes duller and more boring with every race.

The graphics are too “boxy” and somehow, huge police vans being able to accelerate faster than a customized Lamborghini, just doesn’t seem right.

But it has to be said, the game isn’t all bad. The races can be entertaining and with varying levels of difficulty, did keep me interested.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who expects the treatment that you usually get with Need for Speed, but if you really want a game that keeps you entertained long enough for the journey in the car or plane or whatever, then buy it.

But seriously though, it’ll be thrown to the side by the time you’ve completed it, which by the way, isn’t that hard.
