Not what it was meant to be

User Rating: 5 | Need for Speed: Shift PSP
For those of you who know the NFS series on the PSP is just an unrealistic racing sim, this game is just that. It's very similar to the previous NFS on the PSP which is the big problem of the game. Shift was supposed to be a return to realism for the NFS series and there's none of that (on the PSP anyway). It's pretty much the same NFS old tricks with made up tracks. There's not even even an option to shift your own gears. All cars are automatic.

Gameplay - 5
Just okay for the typical NFS arcade racer. The gameplay and driving is similar to its predecessors. Unlocking cars, customization, challenging rivals to win their cars, being able to drift through a tight u-turn at 120+ MPH. You can probably beat the game without using the brakes. You get the DRIFT.

Graphics - 6
A slight improvement over the previous NFS games on the PSP. Still quite the eyesore however. They could be improved.

Sound - 3
Very poor. Extremely limited soundtrack and the quality of the existing music is also very poor. Listening to it on headphones reveals low quality sound.

Overall - 5
This is the same old NFS that has been on the PSP for a while now. Only a few new tricks but not very entertaining. You will be disappointed if you expected a return to realism with Shift for the PSP. You're better off getting the console or PC versions. Only if you liked the old NFS on PSP, you'll like this.
