Fast (No), Dark (Yes) and Way to Long (Extreamly). A game with absolutely no substance, count me out.
To continue the game wasn't that bad for the first 20 hours. Where there is lots of stuff to unlock and upgrade your car. But as the game progresses you realize its the same race over and over. Though I’m still enticed by the drag racing (online). Not to mention the lack of CG's in the game. I found that the game lacks in substance where the first Underground had CG's galore and the enjoyment of hood girls; staring at a drawn version of Brooke Burke in comic book style lacks the excitement of winning for the girl in the previous game.
The game feels drawn out and by the time I hit 40 percent I was tired and exhausted of repeating the same thing over and over just to unlock another area of the city to drive in.
The game also feels quite slow. "Hey buddy I’m doing 110Km/h (60 Mph) so stop passing me on foot". The big question though is this why is there no day count in the game. I’m sure that in reality I could do 1000 races in under 24hrs.
Finally why is the game so aimed at the hip-hop genre, I’m insulted, because the guys on pimp my ride have no clue how the engine of a car works they know spinners and sound systems. In reality what should be included is the likes of Rob Zombie; "I’m not actually a fan" but polyphony digital understands what music should be included and what should not.
Luckily the build of the environment is still fun it still feels competitive and enticing but barely makes up for the shortcomings. I do like just rolling through the city sometimes though.
To conclude I wish the game had just been as good as the first that’s my final testament. EA tried to make a leap to far and fell flat on their face while delivering a slow feeling racing game that only the hip-hop friendly would enjoy.
If you want good street racing go back and relive the excitement with Midnight Club 1 or 2 at least Rockstar does it right.
