Cute game, but poor translation and laggy gameplay is a little offputting. Still, a terrific f2p MMORPG!

First, let me get this out the way. The game is very very cute. From playable poms to little pets to sea-turtles with big happy grins, the adorability factor of NeoSteam is higher than supermarket shelves.

There are five playable races; Human, Elf, Pom (!!!), Taroon, Lyell and Taxzn Human. Then the jobs consist of the generic Mages and Fighters but with Rogues and Craftors thrown in to. I haven't explored many in detail other than Rogue and Mage, but there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. Enough variety to keep an mmo-lover happy.

The plus sides to the game probably come in to 5 categories. There's the cuteness factor, which makes the game enjoyable and appealing. Originality, it certainly has it for a f2p! The graphics + cinematics, which are pretty darn good for something that costs me nothing. The sound-quality: tranquil soundtracks and cute battle noises create a peaceful atmosphere in-game. And finally, and most importantly; the gameplay. Although a little unresponsive at times, there's nothing too complicated or too hard to put you off. Standard skill bars and hotkeys, typical point and click movement. The poor translation can be a little hinderance at times to navigating the game, but you adapt pretty quickly.

However, as in all f2p games it has it's flaw. As I've already mentioned, the game can be a little unresponsive at times. Clicking anywhere in game sometimes takes an age to work, and sometimes shops take a while to process your sales. It tends to only be miscellaneous things that delay a little though, and it's not a major problem.
The story is also hard to follow if you're an English player, as poor translation makes for fractured sentences. If you're not one who plays MMORPGs for the story, then I guess you're just fine.
It can also be a little grindy, but I think that's more subject to preference. If you're not the kind of gamer who likes to kill Buzz Mails repetitively for half an hour solidly, then you should probably not linger too long on NeoSteam.

All in all, I'm happy I stumbled on such a game. It's a nice break from overly populated MMORPGs.
