A perfect game: beautiful graphics, fun D&D3.5 character creation, good fights, humor and really excellent dialogue.
The game uses D&D3.5 so it's a very good character creation system with many choices of races, classes and skills/feats. I love this game more than my dog (if I had a dog).
The storyline is quite good with many side quests based on the characters you choose for your party. The dwarven fighter Khelgar is probably the key character you should have because of the witty stories and mudslinging he offers, his quests and the really well done voice acting. It has to be the best voice acting and dialogue scripting ever put into a game. The other characters also are cool and they all change their opinion of your each time you agree or disagree with members of your party. Like you can have a 'fighting is cool' attitude to please Khelgar or you can say fighting is bad in order to cowtow to the wood elf druid but that will anger Khelgar. Agreeing that stealing is good will please your thief and anger your other people. It's all a balance and too much anger will make enemies in your party. After the agonizingly long, boring cutscenes in Dragon Age, the interactive, intriguing conversations in this game are a welcome delight. You can really screw up a quest by getting in people's faces or by not getting in their faces depending on the situation so you have to go by your feeling.
The graphics are the best ever in a game - very rich, colorful scenary and cute characters. I like the female wood elf the best. Actually I would marry the wood elf bard that I made if it were possible and I'm not even a nerd. Compared to Dragon Age Origins the graphics are far better because Dragon Age has a glaring, stale grey look to everywhere in the game which gets quite dreary and depressing in a hurry but Neverwinter 2 has different, rich artistic views to take in on every quest. The swamp you start out in looks so good that I want to drink it cause it reminds me of a vegetable smoothie. And I keep wanting to go on vacation to the places I see in the game. And I'm not even a nerd.
Story and fighting are perfectly crafted to be challenging and fun without any annoyance factor. Unlike the click & wait for enemy to die boredom of games like Dragon Age and Dungeon Siege, you can kill your enemies a 1000 different ways in this game. And they can mess you up good too if you don't manage your party well. If fights seem difficult then always remember - in Greater Cleave we trust.
Buy this game and get scrapping. There are Orcs, Lizardfolk, Trolls, thugs and all kinds of other critters dying to be killed by you.
