A good revival of the mario 2D platformer...on the DS!

Hey guys this is my first review so sorry if it's a little sloppy but I'll try to do my best. Personally this is one of my very favorite games on the DS. I didn't like it when the game ended...I liked it so much! I'm a fairly avid fan of Mario games, and I believe this one has the potential to stand with the best of them. So, now that you know I liked it, I should start getting to the game itself. New Super Mario Bros. is a 2D sidescrolling platformer in which Mario (who, by the way, looks quite spiffy in this graphical update), the main protagonist, is off once again on a quest to save Peach (you ask, again? Yes, again. Maybe they should start thinking of more fleshed out, interesting plots, these Mario people). Anyways Mario goes through 8 worlds in total, ranging from lush islands to snow covered....well, a snow covered world. These levels are a breath of fresh air from the plot and contain variety, challenge, interesting design and some puzzle elements. I could say more but..there's too much more to say. The Mario people have done it again with there clever, "sucks you in" type of levels. There are also some cool suits they added like the blue shell suit, mini suit and mega suit. The rest is your typical Mario fare. The graphics are, like I mentioned earlier, very good for a 2D Mario game, and I was impressed by how the controls were very sharp and responsive. Overall this game is everything you'd come to expect from a Mario game...including that it's excellent. 9/10. (by the way can't wait for New Super Mario Bros. Wii!)
