Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D sells a million

While the 3DS hasn't been selling as well as Nintendo hoped, the system had its first top-10 best-seller in the US last month with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The remake of the Nintendo 64 classic has been doing well worldwide, as Nintendo today revealed in a quarterly financial results briefing that the game had surpassed its first significant sales milestone.

From the game's June 16 Japanese debut through the month's end, Nintendo sold 1.08 million copies of Ocarina of Time 3D. Yesterday, the company said it had sold 4.32 million 3DS units globally, meaning there's one copy of Ocarina of Time 3D for every four systems that can play it.

While no other Nintendo game released during the quarter can claim that kind of attach ratio, they can claim better sales. During the three months ended June 30, Nintendo sold 1.22 million copies of Mario Kart Wii, originally released in April 2008. The DS versions of Pokemon Black and Pokemon White also combined to best Ocarina of Time 3D, selling 1.36 million for the quarter.
