I bought Fever and I'm not totally disappointed. The game has made some nice improvements. Read and Lead, I think, is a great inovation, and quite possibly could become the standard for all football games. Very nice. The DBs actually do their jobs now and defend the pass pretty well. I like that. The running game feels pretty good although still some things that bother me. However, Fever still has so many glaring weaknesses and problems, many of which have been around since 2002. It's perplexing as to why they don't fix these problems. The animations go wacky on you. Put a guy in motion, and all of a sudden he is running in super fast motion. Other times a guys seems to be moving in slow motion. Very annoying. The graphics are pretty good. Some of the tackling animations are excellent. The stadiums and crowds though look kinda weak. The commentary is decent, although it sorely needs more game specific and player specific commentary. The crowd reaction is excellent. Might be the best I've seen in a football game. They seem to get all revved up and psyched at the rigt times and quiet at the right times and PO'ed off at the right times. This is cool. The game has always lacked atmosphere and never has had a "look". It still does not have it. It's too generic. They need to add some feel to the game. Some atmosphere....likle what Seaga did with 2k3 in the frachise mode. If this game were out in a vacuum, it would be pretty good. However, there are 2 other top tier games that just outclass this game. So, yes, I can have some fun with this game, and will probably hang onto it to play some XSN leagues, but I'm quite sure most of my football gaming will be done with ESPN Football which, OXM is reportedly giving a 9.3 beating out Madden which gets a 8.9 and Fever gets a 7.9). I agree with the OXM rating....7.9 . Not a great game, but not awful either. They made some nice improvements this year, but the game still has problems. Maybe next year. At least it's playable and you can actually have some fun and excitment with this year.
