be prepared to give it a lot of time

I always enjoyed simming through the seasons on madden and trying to build a contender that would win super bowls without me playing any games. if you have ever done this and enjoyed this game is certainly what you are looking for. it takes all that and builds on it considerably but it certainly can be frustrating. the day to day stuff can be pretty boring as you are progressing through the re-signing of players and signing you draftees, etc. The running of plays over and over again in training camp also wears on you. all of this can be simulated, but I found when I simulated any drills whatsoever I wound up with a stockpile of injuries whereas I had none when I simply took the time to play through them. By far the most frustrating part for me was my first preseason game. As a Steeler fan I thought I had a pretty good o-line assmbled for the season, but big ben was sacked 15 times and I lost 17-0. The second game I must have figured a few things out, but the frustration was worse because I was winning 17-6 with just over 2 minutes to go and had the vikings punting. of course I fumbled the punt return which was returned for a TD and then just when I was about to get the game icing first down I fumbled again and watched helpless as they marched down the field and took the win. It's a new experience to not really be able to alter the affects on the field. Another frustrating point is mentioned in the gamespot review. It is absolutely crazy how you try to motivate and it has no sense to it. You can try either tactic and sometimes both get + or both get - or one of each. you would think you could figure out the best way to talk to a certain player, but it seems totally random which makes it almost pointless to try. all in all it's a first effort for this genre and it's definitely something you have to be interested in. if you don't have the patience to sit with a game such as this for several hours just to get into it then don't bother, NCAA and madden will both be here shortly. however if you do manage to get into the game it does start to make a little sense and you find yourself wanting to do one more thing, then one more, and one more, so it definitely gets addicting in a hurry...enjoy
