This game is a hell of a lot better than reviews say!

NHL '06. I haven't had so much fun with a hockey game since NHL Faceoff '99 on PS1. The game is just pure fun like a video game should be. From the way the AI matches up against you, not too hard, not too easy; the fast and hard-hitting action, the realistic sound effects that bring you into the action, etc.....This game is just straight up fun. Online play has a slight lag but nothing that will totally mess up the experience. So to be able to play this game against anybody at any time, (since there is always someone in the lobby who wants to play, even at 3am) it's an incredible value, especially priced at $29.99!!

The graphics are clean, animations are complex (enough), frame rate is stable, control is responsive, and I could go on and on. You'll notice that once you get used to the way the computer plays and you develop a sense for where your teammates are on the ice, even when you can't see them, you'll learn how to put together some pretty nifty plays. The game really opens up to you and becomes fun once you learn all the little nooks and crannys. Good times for sure. Professional reviewers are saying less of this game than I am, but maybe they are not into hockey that much in the first place. If you like hockey you will like this game. Guaranteed. It is absoulutely much better than the last few verions of the NHL franchise from EA Sports. Oh.....by the way, the L.A. Kings are the best. :)
