Well I have been playing hockey video games for a very long time, and every year EA Sports tops the last year and this year is no different then the others. But I do have to say there are a lot of people out there who say that this years game is basically the same as last year but just with a few new features. All I can say is that is not true at all, they have definitely topped last years game by far. Some of the new features you will see are the fact that now on the Be A Pro mode you can now enter yourself into the upcoming NHL Entry Draft, and you will have to play in the prospects game and all the NHL amateur scouts will be there and if you have a great game then you will most likely move yourself up in the scouting ranks. But at the same time if you have a bad game then you could possibly fall back in the scouting ranks. They have also added a new game mode called Be A GM and you can take over a NHL team and you will have to do everything that the GM has to do in the real NHL. So you have a cell phone that you can get on all call other GMs and try to work out a trade, or you can see who is on the trading block with other NHL teams. (The trading block is a new feature in this year's game also) I personally love the new trading block cause not only can you list your available players but you can also specify what you are willing to trade off of your team and what you are looking for when it comes to other teams making you offers. So you have everything you could possibly need to make sure that you only get offers that your team is looking for. Also you can now make trades during the NHL draft, and they also have a "mini game" for the trade deadline day. So you can now truly work the phones on deadline day, you can make trades all the way up to the last minute of deadline day. Well now lets talk about the new gameplay additions, you now have the ability to play the boards. You can pin players on the boards and fight for the puck, and when you are on the boards fighting for the puck you can enjoy the scenery of all the crazy fans standing up and pounding on the glass just like in the real NHL. I must say EA Sports has truly completely rebuilt the fans, they are much more intelligent then last year and much more interactive in what is actually happening on the ice. If you injure one of the home team's players the fans will let you know that they are not happy about that and they will boo you when you carry the puck. You also get a lot more of the OO's and AA's and this year that are actually timed with what is happening on the ice. Well last but by far not least the all new post whistle action, yep you heard it right POST whistle action. You can now retaliate for earlier hits, you can start fights, and you can intimidate the other players by giving them a nice big post action hit or the latest and greatest player all time favorite smelly hockey glove face wash. So no longer does the action stop when the whistle blows, in my opinion the action is just getting started. And it is time for me to go after that guy who hit me earlier in the game or maybe just the guy who decided to block one of my shots. You know I have never been happy when a player blocks one of my shots, I mean you can block everyone else's shots but don't step in front of mine cause I will get ya later. Well that's all I have for NHL 10, I hope you got something useful out of my review and if you were just considering buying the game I hope my review helped you go from considering to buy to now going out and buying it.
