Ok, for starters, yeah, there isn't anything revolutionary about this game from the previous ones. And yeah, it has its bugs and such, but let's be honest, all games do. Bottom line, this is a great hockey game and a great sports game. It offers various levels of play for beginners to pros to people who want to rack up the goals. The player development is stellar, as usual, and the options to coach and be a GM are also top notch. The AI is what it is, but at harder levels, it can be a little challenging and more intense to play.
For the online play, there's plenty to do. My only complaint would be not being able to simply make a team, put yourself on it, and play without needing friends to join in. Otherwise, it is always fun to play head-to-head against other people.
The NHL line of games have always been at the top of the game, and this one is no different.
