This game has made a huge improvement in almost every aspect since 2003. It is arguably the best hockey game to date. If you’ve ever played any of EA’s NHL games and liked it, then you’ll love this. The improvements from NHL 2003 are amazing .First of all, the graphics have improved and look like realistic hockey players. There are many additions to NHL 2004, all of them being great. The biggest addition in gameplay is the ‘Bruise Control’ hitting system. Bruise Control lets players charge up hits and aim them on an opponent. This new hitting system is hard to get used to, so beginners should use the one-button hitting system. However, when you get better at using Bruise Control then you are at a huge advantage. The best and biggest addition to NHL 2004 is the ‘Dynasty Mode.’ In Dynasty Mode players take control of an NHL General Manager and play through 20 seasons of hockey. As a GM you have to sign contracts, draft players and much more. Other additions to NHL 2004 include: Elite European Teams and ways to customize your NHL menus to your own liking. The only downfall to this game is the commentary. Even though it is improved since NHL 2003 it is still annoying and repetitive. Other than that this game is excellent!
