I was over at a friends house playing Gretzky 06, and I was really surprised at how much I liked it. I came home and tried to find a hockey game for the XBOX, but Gretzky was only for the PS2. I did however, see two games. One, NHL 06, I avoided because of past experiences. I bought NHL 04 once, didn't like it that much, hated it. Then I was looking at this game, reading about the new features like International Scouting in dynasty mode, and reading about how solid the game was. Then I saw the price tag, $20.00, what a deal. I went out to EB games and picked it up. When I came home and started playing, I just started out easy with an exhibition game. I was amazed at how much I liked it, even though I can't hardly stand to watch a hokey game. The game play was phenomenal and easy to pick up. It looks like there's a lot of buttons to remember at first, but you just have to play it and get used to it. Then I went into dynasty mode and found myself pleasantly surprised that this wasn't going to be another NHL 04. The only problem I have is when your playing and you have the puck behind the net, sometimes your stick will go through the net, and the puck will try to follow it, and end up circling around the net and going in to meet your stick. This happened to me twice, but I didn't find it a real problem, I'm hardly ever behind my net anyway. I really liked this game, and if you're thinking about picking up a hockey game, this is definitely the wat to go.
