If you ask any of my friends who play sports games. The first thing I usually hear about is how disappointing the franchise modes are for various reasons. (Oddly, these complaints are rarely about 2K sports titles) the 2K Hockey series got me back into playing Hockey games with the stellar NHL 2K7 and it managed to improve itself in 2K8

I'd like to point out I love the control scheme of using the L and R buttons only for shooting or passing, its brilliant and it really frees up the controller to just use the right thumb stick as a simple aimer. This was honestly how I felt it should always have been, none of this aim-while-you're-skating- crap. I dont mind the EA Sports innovative control schemes but their games heavily lack in other ares.

I get the most enjoyment out of my sports games from the franchise modes. This one is awesome, player progression is reasonable and the feel is fun. I like the menu set-up, its simple, gets the job done.

My only complaint about this game is how the goalies pads dont adjust to what uniform you pick. If I pick the black and yellow Vancouver Canucks uniform, I dont want green and blue goalie pads, please guys!
