NHL 95 is the greatest in terms of gameplay but you must appreciate it with at least one friend. 4 players is the best and the scrimmage mode where only 4 skaters and 2 goalies are on is wicked fun.
The only reason NHL 94 might've been titled the greatest of all time is because it has fighting and 95 does not. Dumb reason as the fighting is just button mashing and even if it weren't, the gameplay in 95 more than makes up for it. Trust me.
One complaint I have is the AI is really simple and easy to defeat. Not challenging one bit and scores can get ridiculously high. That's why you must play with friend(s). Even if you don't, you'll have a great time playing.
