D-D-Do you have it? D-D-D-Do you have it? GUTS!!!

Okay, now that the title out of my system, onto the review. Nickelodeon GUTS was an old (early-mid 90's) gameshow where 3 kids (boys and girls (rarely would you see girls or boys only)) competed on 5 challenging sports events (the final event (which usually decided the end) was the crag (3 forms of it: Aggro Crag (meaning agressive rock), Mega Crag (a bit taller than the original and a little more challenging) and the "Super Mega Aggro Crag" (the final version of the crag).). Anyway, in 1994, Nintendo and Nickeldeon created a video game version of Nick GUTS! I wanted it sooooooo badly (I never got it for Christmas...)! Skip ahead to 2005, I see it in the "old games bin" at X-Zone! FINALLY!! GUTS was mine! So, I take it home and play it. Good thing, too! I heard the old school theme (with the vocals and nothing else, no Mike O'Malley screaming his head off (sorry, Mike ;-) )). Anyway, I started the game up... it took a LONG time to get to the meat! Finally, I started the "show" (4 events and aggro crag)... I played through 4 events, but I didn't get 700 points to tackle the crag... "What?? I needed 800 points? You gotta be kidding me!!" I let the demo play come on... I saw I could do "specials" (press X+Y for a wacky, higher scoring move!). "So... if I do specials, I can get the crag, huh?" So, low and behold, I do the crag and what do you think happens? It turns out NOTHING like the real aggro crag! But, it was cool nonetheless (the BGM is just so cool!). Now, onto the stats.
Sounds: The sound effects are limited and the voices (except MoIra Quirk) are unoriginal. But, whereas the voices and sounds were bad, the music make up for the lack of good sounds.
Graphics: These are what made GUTS good (to me). The crowd in the back, the kids in the front and even Mo' (Moira) was in a few events (the 4 main events).
Gameplay: Ugh... failure is a teaching tool? Psh... as if! You need extreme skills to get to the crag and patience, too! Try not to get extremely annoyed with the failure of getting to the crag or even let the crag get you! I mean, IT'S JUST AWFUL!!
Controls: Down to jump from the bridge, various buttons to shoot, left and right to run, X to "flip" (very cartoonish), Y to jump... could it be any more simpler?
Replay Value: Oh, yeah! Where this game is HIGHLY flawed, it more than makes up for in replay value! Try going against a friend!
Sum Up: It's a solid title, but you need a lot of skill. Also, it's very flawed, but, since I'm a huge GUTS fan, I loved it.
