I wasn't totally sure what to expect with this game, but I was in for an awesome surprise in getting 999. It's not often that I've been able to play a game and feel terrified, be laughing out loud, and filled with a warm fuzzy feeling in the span of a few minutes. All of the characters are an interesting bunch with surprising hidden depths, and the puzzles are at just the right complexity as to not be a TOTAL snoozefest, but at the same time not make you rack your brain for 10 minutes finding an answer. The English translation was done really skillfully; aside from a few insignificant grammar/spelling errors, it flows perfectly, and the translators were brilliant at adapting Japanese humor/symbolism to fit a Western audience. The story is incredibly well thought out, and across multiple playthroughs the sense of finally seeing how everything connects together is extremely satisfying. Basically, everyone should play this game.....but you might wanna be careful about playing it alone in a dark room at night :P
