User Rating: 9 | Ninja Gaiden XBOX
Ninja Gaiden is by far the coolest game out for XBox right now. I have always been a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series and loved playing it back in the Nintendo era. When i heard that they were making a remake of it for the XBox i was pumped. I pre-ordered it as soon as i knew a shipping date and i was just so eager for it. Since i have bought the game it started out like i thought it would, basically getting you used to the 3D environments and used to the basic moves that Ryu can do (which i may add are the coolest moves). Granted i am still raving about this game but the fact that i have always loved this game doesn't prevent me from seeing some of its flaws. The story line as some would say is lacking, you have the basic gist of whats going on and the reasoning for your worldwide slaughter of men who somehow think they can beat a full-blown ninja at it's own game. Though you tend to feel a bit lost as to why you're doing this, the first cinematic of the game which is EXTREMELY STUNNING is the only clue as to whats going on and why you are getting revenge. Though the first cinematic comes AFTER you've beat the crap out of countless peons of martial arts and a rather difficult FIRST boss. Now to the gameplay, even though i like the fact that Team Ninja made the game very adaptable and adjustable to play control wise they made it very bland. The moves are pretty simplistic but make me feel like i'm playing Gauntlet or some other button mashing game. You can perform virtually every move in the move list in a 9 hit combo that you have no clue how you performed. Many reviewers raved about the fighting system and said that they loved the fact that you could cut off somebody's head and not even know how you did it. But when i played it i thought it was gonna be a little bit more fun then it actually was, granted i never get tired of slamming my sword into someone's head and watch there bodies dissapear in a very cool BLADE like death, but i just feel that something is missing in it. Now that i've said the negative specs about this game i will now rave on how cool and diserable this game is. On top of bad views this game will eventually get, the main point that this game will get to in every review is the fact that the game in itself is EXTREMELY well done. This is not like Shinobi where you have to choreograph your moves before you even turn on the system, Ninja Gaiden makes the fighting a LOT more easier to deal with. As long as you are pushing one of the two fighting buttons you're garaunteed to kill someone. A lot of gamers will be breathing a sigh of relief when they start noticing that they dont need to stay up for two nights memorizing every move in the book and choreographing them for 3 hrs before playing the game, for Ninja Gaiden is very simple, push a button, decapitate someone. On top of the "Fighting for Dummies" gameplay the graphics in Ninja Gaiden are very well done and the lighting in every scene really puts you in the blood thirsty world of the samaurii. Now anybody that has asthma keep your inhaler close while playing this game for you will need it when you start seeing the detailed characters and background for they are breath taking, though before you kill the first boss put on a difibrillator because the cinematics will, more then likely, put you into a coma. Just for the simple fact of the fighting and decapitations that this game depicts effortlessly anybody who has any urge to kill someone should get this game and use it for anger management. The diserability that this game has just because of it's title is well worth the $50 to see what is behind the title for this game is undeniably the best game out for the XBox. Author: Travis W.
